Engineering where safety is certified

In aerospace and defense, a wrong requirement has real consequences. We help programs set up the IBM ELM suite to manage requirements from concept through certification. The result is the traceability that airworthiness and safety standards require.

We configure DOORS Next, EWM, and ETM for the regulations that apply to your program.

Core competencies

  • Workflows for DO-178C and DO-254 programs
  • Requirements management and decomposition in DOORS Next
  • Automated traceability across hardware, software, and systems tiers
  • Risk and safety analysis linked to the requirements model

DO-178C, ARP4754A, and ARP4761

DO-178C sets objectives for bidirectional traceability (requirements to design to code to test), configuration management, and independent verification. You must show these to a certification authority. We configure the ELM link and baseline structures so that the tool produces the traceability matrix your DER or DAR asks for. Nobody has to rebuild it by hand late in the program.

ARP4754A governs how system requirements decompose and how safety-critical design decisions are justified. The ARP4761 safety assessments (FHA, PSSA, SSA) must trace back to the same requirements in DOORS Next. When a system requirement changes and the safety assessment does not, the gap often stays hidden until a certification review or a DAL re-evaluation. We build ELM environments where these links are part of the structure, so they update with the design.
